13th Annual “Race for Grace”

Derby-time event supports Chaplaincy activities

Event Held Monday, April 27, 2015

The Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy offers its heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the untitled2015 “Race for Grace” fundraising dinner another big success.

Event guests packed into Millionaires Row, Sixth Floor, at Churchill Downs on April 27th to hear the Burpo family personally share the experiences that led to their best-selling book Heaven is for Real  and the movie that followed.

Throughout the evening, the ultimate message from the Burpos was loud and clear: God is at work in our lives and can handle our hurts. God restores us, gives us hope, and like he did in the Burpos’ story, points us to heaven.

Blessed by many

We thank our event sponsors, the dozens of volunteers, and event’s many attendees for supporting this year’s event. Your support, along with the prayers of many, make it possible to fund the activities of our chaplains at Kentucky race tracks and training centers.

Churchill Downs Chaplaincy Ministry

Louisville Kentucky and Churchill Downs are home to Christ Chapel, a centerpiece of the ministry of Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy (KRTC). This video tells the story of KRTC’s ministry to the track’s backside community.

As Pat Day says in the video, “You send a doctor to the sick people, not to the well. And there’s people [on the backside of the race track] that are in dire need of a loving touch from Godly people.”
