Churchill Downs Chaplaincy Ministry

Louisville Kentucky and Churchill Downs are home to Christ Chapel, a centerpiece of the ministry of Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy (KRTC). This video tells the story of KRTC’s ministry to the track’s backside community.

As Pat Day says in the video, “You send a doctor to the sick people, not to the well. And there’s people [on the backside of the race track] that are in dire need of a loving touch from Godly people.”

Thanksgiving / Christmas 2010

Thanks to all who had a part in blessing those we’ve served over Thanksgiving and during the Christmas Holiday season.  KRTC served 150 meals to backside workers at Turfway Park on Thanksgiving Day and then 250 on December 14th for the Christmas celebration.  At Churchill Downs KRTC served over 250 meals for its Christmas celebration on December 13th.  Collectively, both Christmas events distributed 175 pairs of work boots to adults and over 225 Christmas gifts to children.  KRTC is grateful to industry groups, businesses, churches and individual volunteers who continue to share their resources for the ministry and outreach of the Chaplaincy.  Praise the Lord.

2010 Race For Grace Update

Featured speaker Avery Johnson, NBA Champion with the San Antonio Spurs (1999) and newly appointed coach of the New Jersey Nets (2010) lit up the room at Race for Grace 2010. With his winning smile and passionate energy for Jesus Christ, Avery brought an uplifting and encouraging word for all those in attendance.

Louisville’s own Tony Cruise, WHAS morning radio personality, emceed the evening’s event. 2010 was Tony’s second tour as emcee and Race For Grace hopes to see him involved with future events. Attendance was up nearly 10% in 2010 and net proceeds to support the ministry of the chaplains exceeded all previous years . . . PTL.

Race for Grace is made possible through the donation of time, prayers and finances from many generous and caring persons . . . Race For Grace says thank you and may God bless you for your interest in the ministry of the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy.

Look for coming details on Race for Grace 2011 to be held on Monday, April 28th.
